In 1775, Captain Juan Bautista de Anza began an epic expedition that would change history. Anza was joined by over 240 settlers, soldiers, and several thousand head of livestock gathered from locations as far south as Culiocan, Mexico. Together they made the difficult 1200-mile journey from Tubac, Arizona, to San Francisco, California.
