Timpanogos Cave is renowned for its abundant helictites and their natural coloration. Helictites are spiral formations created through a complex hydrologic action. Chimes Chamber, one of many in the cave, contains hundreds of 6- to 10-inch-long helictites, all seeming to defy gravity. Their unique colors are derived from the variety of minerals within the formations.
