Between 1935 and 1943, the Federal Art Project of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) created over two million posters, showcasing 35 thousand distinct designs. These creations aimed to captivate the public’s imagination and promote education, theater, health, safety, and travel, including 14 designs featuring national park units. While a mere 1,400 WPA national park posters were originally produced, only 40 of these original pieces were preserved, thanks to the efforts of then-ranger Doug Leen.

With the revival of the distinctive WPA style, many national parks enlisted ranger Doug to continue this series. The result is contemporary designs embodying the spirit of the original WPA pieces—a great way to bring vintage charm to contemporary spaces. There is only one authentic source for these WPA-inspired artworks and WNPA takes pride in offering these designs for purchase.

This Saguaro National Park Poster is crafted through serigraphy, a technique using stencils to transfer ink onto paper. Each poster is a masterpiece of precision and color. This image features saguaro cacti against a mountain range and desert sunset, and captures the timeless allure of one of America’s Southwestern wonders.
