The Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park magnet features artwork inspired by a 1930s Works Progress Administration poster. The design shows the canyon’s steep walls and the Gunnison River winding below. These dramatic cliffs create one of the deepest and narrowest gorges in North America.
Between 1935 and 1943, the Federal Art Project of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) created over two million posters, showcasing 35 thousand distinct designs. While a mere 1,400 WPA national park posters were originally produced, only 40 of these original pieces were preserved, thanks to the efforts of then-ranger Doug Leen.
This durable metal magnet has a smooth, printed finish. A strong backing keeps it securely in place on magnetic surfaces. The detailed artwork holds up well over time. It works well for display on a refrigerator, office board, or as a travel keepsake.
