Distinguished by the long fur tips on their ears, from which their common name is derived, they are typically grayish-brown, with a white belly and a bushy tail. They are primarily arboreal, living in coniferous and mixed coniferous-deciduous forests. These diurnal creatures feed on a variety of seeds, nuts, and fruits.
