Copper Hummingbird Feeder
This bee-proof, drip-free hummingbird feeder was created by a former zookeeper at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson, Arizona. In 2006, local bees inundated the feeders in the desert museums hummingbird aviary, unnerving staff and visitors, stinging keepers, and preventing the hummingbirds from feeding. This event inspired the creation of this hummingbird feeder, designed to be easy to clean and almost indestructible, all while denying bees access.
Each hand-crafted, solid copper feeder includes two sets of BPA-free, food-grade plastic jars along with instructions. Simply fill a jar with 1-part sugar to 4 parts water, place in the copper holder, then enjoy watching hummingbirds in action! The untreated copper will naturally patina with time but can be polished to bring back the shine. The copper can also be sealed with a coat of clear polyurethane.
