Code Talker is the only memoir written by one of the original Navajo code talkers of World War II. As a child Chester Nez was punished in school for speaking his native language-a language that would become vital to the success of the United States in World War II. When the Marines turned to its Navajo recruits to develop and implement a secret military language, the Navajo created the only code to remain unbroken in modern warfare. The code helped insure victory over Japan in the South Pacific. 320 pages.
