Handmade by artist John Aguilar of the Santo Domingo (Kewa) Pueblo, these sterling silver earrings are created through traditional sandcasting techniques. The design, titled Corn Harvest at Santo Domingo, honors the Corn Dance—a sacred celebration held annually on August 4 at Kewa Pueblo. In this traditional event, generations gather in ceremonial attire to honor the land, seasons, and spiritual cycles. Aguilar translates this cultural moment into metal with practiced skill, carving his vision into sand molds and shaping molten silver by hand. Each casting results in subtle variations that make every pair unique. The form, texture, and balance of these fishhook earrings echo the rhythm of the dance and the heartbeat of a Pueblo community. Wearing them carries meaning beyond physical beauty and craftsmanship—it’s a tribute to tradition, resilience, and the ceremonial spirit of harvest and renewal.
