Petroglyph National Monument takes its name from the estimated twenty-five thousand images carved into the 17 miles of escarpment preserved within the park’s boundaries. Petroglyphs are created by carefully chiseling an image directly into the rock. Ancestors of today’s Pueblo people created an estimated 90 percent of this monument’s petroglyphs.
Celebrate the images and the people who created them by donning our Petroglyph National Monument ball cap. The cap features the name of the park and an image inspired by a petroglyph found within the park of a macaw parrot.
