This postcard features Betatakin Ruin, one of three spectacular cliff dwellings in Navajo National Monument. Betatakin, which means "ledge house" in Navajo, is called Talastima, or place of the corn tassel, in Hopi. It is believed that the Ancestral Puebloan people, ancestors of the Hopi, lived in cave dwellings, instead of mesas or the canyon floor, to maximize the amount of sustainable land for agricultural production. Send this postcard to family and friends to show your love of national parks, or let it be a reminder of your trip to this thousand-year-old sandstone wonder recessed in an alcove of a cavernous cave on the Colorado Plateau.

  • Official postcard approved by the National Park Service for Navajo National Monument
  • Size: 5 3/4" x 4 1/8"
