Barn owls are extremely widespread. Found in every continent except Antarctica, they specialize in rodent prey, catching up to 2,000 mice in a single year. They use silent flight, excellent low-light eyesight, and hearing to capture those mice and other prey. They get their name from the fact that in addition to residing in caves and tree holes during the day, they will also use man-made structures like barns, sheds, and mine shafts.
This one, however, is sure to be perfectly happy residing on your child's fingers.
