Local folklore has it that Whiskeytown got its name when a barrel of whiskey fell off a miner’s pack mule, rolled down the hillside, and dumped its contents into a creek. From then on, that creek was known as Whiskey Creek. In turn the town next to the creek became known as Whiskeytown. The back of the shirt features an image of that famed whiskey barrel!
