Established as a national monument in 1932 and then redesignated in 2004 following a significant expansion of the original monument, Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve now protects nearly 150,000 acres and includes seven distinctive life zones. This variety of life zones makes Great Sand Dunes one of the most ecologically diverse natural areas in the United States. Sandhill cranes (picture on one of the puzzle's sides) spend their spring and fall each year in the San Luis Valley as part of their migration route. The valley even hosts a "Crane Festival" in early March to celebrate their arrival.

This double puzzle features two images detailing the diverse landscape making up Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve, one on each side. It's two puzzles in one! Build it once, then flip the pieces over and build it again!
