Chickasaw National Rec. Area Bolihua Ornament

This glass ornament is unique because it is hand painted using a process called bolihua, a reverse glass painting technique that has been practiced in China since the early 18th century. The painting is done from the inside through the holes at the top and bottom of the glass globe using special narrow brushes and pointed sticks. Each piece has the design detail applied in layers over several days. This ornament is painted with imagery inspired by Chickasaw National Recreation Area and features a peaceful, pastoral scene that you might experience at this location.
