Casa Grande Ruins National Monument Travel Stamp
This travel stamp features Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, designated as the nation's first archeological reserve in 1892. Casa Grande Ruins National Monument preserves the Great House, a four-story, 11-room building, and several other structures built around 1350. Located in the Gila River Valley and attributed to the ancient Sonoran Desert people, these ruins existed among linked farming settlements and irrigation canals, but their original function is still a mystery.
