American Bison Double Puzzle
The American bison is the national mammal of the United States and the largest mammal found in North America. While "bison" and "buffalo" are often used interchangeably, the species found in North America is bison. Bison nearly went extinct in the late 1800s due to commercial hunting and the introduction of diseases from domestic cattle, but their numbers grew thanks to the protection of national parks and reserves. Today the National Park Service manages almost 10,000 bison across 10 national parks.
